Responsibilities
The Data Architect selected will be responsible for the following:
- Leading a team of Data analysts, database administrators, and data quality analysts
- Database architectural design and construction for both new database and existing database environments
- Establish best practices for ETL processing in relational databases, Oracle DB
- Lead team members in developing and maintaining documentation regarding data quality assurance and data loading processes
- Coordinate with survey contractors to provide efficient and accurate data transfers and loading of survey data from SAS and other sources thru standardization/automation of ETL processing
- Mentor team members on industries best practices regarding data processing and relational database design.
- Refine/improve data standards and structures for all aspects of the data management life cycle
- Experience designing and building OLAP cubes.
- Manage all transformation activities for a large Oracle 11g-based data warehouse
- Provide database support activities for all Oracle 11g database environments including
o Periodic database management such as performance tuning, backup/recovery, expansion, manage security, etc.
o Technical Support for other developers in the team
o Write, troubleshoot and improve PL/SQL
o Tune PL/SQL and stored procedures and packages for performance
- Provide System Administration support for the following middleware technologies:
o Apache Webserver 2.2
o JBoss 6 Application server
o SAS metadata server 9.4
o SAS OLAP server 9.4
o SAS Web Infrastructure Platform 9.4
o Pentaho
- Coordinate between with Unix System and Oracle Database Administrators for security patching and incident troubleshooting
Responsible for managing the daily activities for a multi-terabyte data warehouse, including (1) ensuring the accuracy of all data transfers into the data warehouse, (2) maintaining the performance of a large Oracle Data Warehouse including both database and application performance, (3) coordinating activities with survey contractors to provide efficient and accurate data transfers, and (4) provide System Administration activities for both Unix and Linux environments. Candidates for this position must possess a certification as an Oracle Database 11g Administrator Oracle Certified Professional and be able to pass a Government Background Check.
Qualifications
The Data Architect selected should have the following qualifications:
- 10+ years of data architecture experience.
- A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or similar.
The Ideal Data Architect will have the following:
- Oracle Certifications.
- Exposure to development processes, SDLC or Agile, is a plus.
