 As a Deli Salad Team Member, you will play an integral role in creating a positive and welcoming experience for our customers by preparing and maintaining a fresh, clean, and well-stocked salad section. You will ensure that all food items meet quality and safety standards while delivering top-notch customer service in the deli department. Your attention to detail and efficiency will be key to maintaining a smooth operation in the deli. 

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Salad Maintenance & Cleanliness:
  
  • Ensure the salads are always fully stocked and visually appealing—never out of items.
  • Keep the salad area clean, organized, and clutter-free throughout the day.
  • Regularly clean and sanitize all surfaces, utensils, and equipment to maintain a hygienic environment.
• Culling & Rotation:
  
  • Follow strict culling procedures to manage product shrink and ensure all products are fresh and within their use-by dates.
  • Properly rotate stock to ensure items are used in a timely manner and waste is minimized.
• Filling Displays:
  
  • Ensure all salad displays are filled with fresh product by key times—by 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM—each day.
  • Ensure there is enough product available to meet customer demand without sacrificing quality.
• Order Filling & Special Orders:
  
  • Accurately fill all special orders and ensure they are prepared and ready for customers on time.
  • Work with the Deli Manager to ensure custom orders meet the customer’s specifications.
• Product Labeling & Signing:
  
  • Ensure all items on the salad and deli section are properly labeled with correct pricing, ingredient information, and nutritional facts as required.
  • Follow all department-specific labeling procedures for products, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Properly use scales and department codes when packaging products for sale.
  • Ensure packaging is neat, accurate, and consistent with store standards.
• Product Expertise & Recipe Knowledge:
  
  • Be knowledgeable about the products you are preparing, including ingredients, flavors, and allergens, and be able to share this information with customers.
  • Follow production guidelines and recipes to ensure meals, sandwiches, and other items are prepared correctly and consistently.
• Speedy Production & Efficiency:
  
  • Work efficiently to ensure quick production times while maintaining quality and cleanliness.
  • Stay focused on completing tasks in a timely manner without compromising safety or food standards.
• Customer Service:
  
  • Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with their salad selections, offering recommendations, and answering any questions.
  • Handle customer inquiries and concerns with professionalism to ensure a positive experience.
• Team Collaboration:
  
  • Work closely with other deli team members to ensure smooth operation of the deli department.
  • Assist in other tasks as needed, such as food prep, stocking, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the deli section.

Qualifications:

• Experience:
  
  • Prior experience in a deli, restaurant, or food service setting is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with customer service or food handling is a plus.
• Skills:
  
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety and cleanliness.
• Physical Requirements:
  
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach for items in the salad bar and storage areas.
