The MAT RN provides comprehensive on-site services to MAT program members, including administering medications when needed, coordinating with psychiatric and medical providers, and ensuring effective communication. They work with MAT Providers to schedule in person and telehealth appointments, manage referrals and release of information, obtain labs and urine drug screens, and perform other related duties. They play a crucial role in discharge planning, staff development, and performance improvement activities. Under the supervision of the DON/HSA they guide patient teaching and activities according to their education and competencies, fostering an interdisciplinary team to ensure the best patient experience and clinical outcomes
Coordinates, manages and monitors services to participants, assuring the best outcomes from incarceration and continuing into re-entry and re-integration back into the community. Interacts with county community partners, outpatient treatment services and any other resources that will enhance the jail’s Medication Assisted Treatment Program(MAT).

- Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment

- Upholds HIPAA and PREA regulations
- Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts
- Maintains security clearance for the assigned facility
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Corrections Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to the correctional-facility guided by the nursing protocols. In addition to general nursing care, responsibilities of Corrections Nurses include (but are not limited to):
- Performs assessments of inmate patient in a variety of settings within the institution such as: initial intake area, health care unit for sick, emergency situations on housing units, chronic care clinics, and medical units if needed
- Collaborates with primary care providers and other health care providers to ensure continuity, timeliness and appropriateness of care to inmate patients
- Coordinates and/or administers medication, therapeutic agents, treatments, to inmate patients if needed
- Promotes culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting documentation, and prevention.
- Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in related scope of job role or practice.
- Adheres to infection control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
- Reports reactions to treatments and medications, as well as changes in the inmates’ emotional or physical condition
- Provides inmate patient education and/or discharge planning
- Coordinate Methadone procurement with local agencies, ensuring forms are completed, sent to clinics, pick ups arranged, daily communications with agencies, diagnostics are completed, and additional tasks as needed
- Participate and foster good working relationships with outside agencies related to MAT
- Act as a liaison between correctional healthcare providers and community agencies and healthcare providers
- Collaborate and coordinate with all applicable parties (e.g., social work, medical, security) for release planning.
