BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR), Returns Processing Administration (RPA). The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the print production unit, and managing a team of Return Processing Assistants responsible for processing tax notices and bills for District taxpayers. Duties include, but are not limited to: planning and directing staff work; analyzing operations to improve efficiency and customer service; overseeing printing and folder/inserter equipment and ensuring proper maintenance; maintaining adequate inventory of printing supplies; developing printing specifications for contracts and requisitions; reviewing and approving refunds generated through the Integrated Tax System; ensuring proper application of District tax laws in correcting returns; participating in system testing; preparing production, statistical, and narrative reports; recommending schedule and workflow adjustments; and reviewing Quality Assurance findings; conducting staff meetings. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Examples of duties

Four (4) years of progressive experience in a print shop, production, or high-volume mail processing environment, including analyzing workflow and improving print or production operations; maintaining and troubleshooting print or production equipment; preparing or overseeing production or operational reports; and managing or maintaining related inventory. In addition, at least two (2) years of experience providing guidance, training and oversight to lower-level staff.


Qualifications

Experience that provides the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for this position.
