Job Description

The Extreme Event Solutions business of Verisk is looking for a Software Engineer.  This 1.5 to 2-year rotational program provides visibility into multiple areas of product development, including the following: software development, quality assurance, and product management. This opportunity is for May/June 2023 graduates to begin their career. The start date for this position is July 2023.

In addition to participating in the rotational program, the incumbent will also have an opportunity to participate in Verisk’s Early Career Foundations Program (ECFP). Verisk’s Early Career Foundations Program (ECFP) is the perfect place for you to launch your career. When you join Verisk in your first professional role, you become part of an ECFP cohort with other recent grads working across several of our businesses around the globe. During your first year with Verisk, you will get to experience a special developmental journey in which you’ll have access to senior leaders, job shadowing assignments, stretch opportunities, and learning and development programming designed to fully acclimate you into the Verisk community.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Accountable for application development supporting business objectives while demonstrating junior-level expertise in software development lifecycle phases from concept and design to testing and implementation.
• Performs hands-on coding, configuration, and testing.
• May serve as a liaison to internal customers, research groups and various business support areas.
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain mid-level to complex applications.
• Participate in design and technical meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in a technical field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering focused. Degree must be obtained by June 2023 or earlier for a July 2023 start date.
• Familiarity and understanding in one or more of the following technologies or their equivalents: C#, C++, AWS, SQL, R.
• Familiarity of the concepts of developing elegant-yet-simple systems using best practices and design patterns.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, and conceptual skills.
• Willingness to experience multiple aspects of software development.
• Ability to learn and adapt to continuously changing technology.
• Must have passion for development and latest technologies.

The Early Career Foundations Program is not eligible for work visa sponsorship.  If you will require work visa sponsorship (e.g., H1-B visa) after completing your degree, you do not meet the basic requirements of the role.
