About the role

The primary responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Provide engineering support on mechanical equipment.
  • Conceptualize mechanical design solutions.
  • Perform stress analysis on mechanical components/systems
  • Produce or check design layouts and detail drawings. 
  • Create tolerance studies and check design documentation
  • Research and specify purchased component parts
  • Design component and system level test plans and test fixtures
  • Generate engineering reports documenting design/analysis efforts and results
  • Identify product improvements
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned
  • Comply with all NOV company policies and procedures.
  • Failure analysis – Analyze and review components from the field that failed or under performed
  • Support manufacturing and quality
  • Review NCR’s and provide engineering dispositions
  • Deal with forgings and India vendors to sustain and develop various expendable components
  • Work with NOV Marble Falls on product specific investment cast components
  • Update internal product specific specifications

We invite you to apply if you have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor of Science or MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of design experience.
  • Familiar with material science (heat treatment & hardening) applied to mechanical engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate ideas and thoughts clearly
  • Knowledge of engineering standards and procedures
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and highly motivated
  • Work independently or in a design team setting
  • Able to multitask on multiple projects
  • Previous oilfield experience or familiarity preferred
  • Proficient in the following engineering software:
    • CAD:  Solidworks or equivalent 3D software.
    • FEA:  Solidworks Simulation, or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience (e.g. mechanically inclined hobbies, experience in mechanic shop, hands-on with mechanical systems, welding)
  • Have knowledge and experience working in or with an ISO and/or API Q1 certified manufacturing facility
  • Working knowledge of industry specifications: API 6A, 7K, and/or 8C
