About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for supporting the month-end close process, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, and ensuring accurate accounting for equity-related transactions. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and equity accounting. Experience with equity administration is preferred but not required, as training will be provided for the right candidate.
This is a fully remote position open to candidates located in either the United States or Canada.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Close
- Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities for assigned areas.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of the general ledger.
- Analyze account fluctuations and investigate variances.
- Prepare supporting schedules for financial reporting.
- Assist with annual audits and other compliance requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
Equity Accounting
- Prepare accounting entries related to stock-based compensation under ASC 718
- Account for equity transactions including stock options, RSUs and ESPP.
- Prepare equity roll-forward schedules and supporting documentation.
- Assist with quarterly and annual financial statement disclosures related to equity compensation.
- Support external valuation specialists and auditors during reporting cycles.
Equity Administration (Preferred)
- Assist with administration of the company's equity plans and equity management platform.
- Coordinate with Legal, HR, Payroll, and external service providers.
- Maintain equity award records and employee transactions.
- Support employee equity inquiries.
Other Responsibilities
- Participate in special projects, acquisitions, and system/process improvements.
- Research technical accounting matters as needed.
- Support cross-functional initiatives across Finance, Payroll, HR, and Legal. \
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA designation (or actively pursuing CPA) preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Public accounting experience is preferred.
- Strong experience with:
- General ledger accounting
- Month-end close
- Account reconciliations
- Financial reporting
- Experience accounting for stock-based compensation and equity transactions.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP (IFRS knowledge is an asset).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with equity administration platforms such as Morgan Stanley ETRADE, or similar.
- Experience working in a publicly traded or private equity-backed company.
- Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite.
- Strong public accounting experience.
