The Store Supervisor assists the Store Manager and Assistant Manager in overseeing all aspects of store operations, including financial performance, personnel management, cash register operations, floor and visual merchandising, loss prevention, and enforcing company policies. This role also includes additional tasks such as training staff and ensuring that the store’s goals and expectations are met.

Key Responsibilities:

Store Operations:

• Manage collections to ensure proper processing, sorting, and separation of incoming donations.

• Maximize used goods processing practices using the Kaizen system, meeting or exceeding production goals.

• Rotate merchandise weekly and ensure that sales performance targets are met.

• Open and close the store, including making bank deposits, tallying cash registers, and performing regular cash register readings.

• Generate daily, weekly, and monthly store reports; maintain accurate records and employee schedules.

• Ensure stockroom production of textiles and hard goods meets goals while minimizing waste.

• Fully train and cross-train all store personnel to ensure efficient store operations across all functions.

• Provide exceptional customer service to shoppers, donors, and staff, greeting customers upon entry.

• Ensure a clean and orderly store processing area, maintaining good housekeeping and a positive work environment.

• Understand and manage the relationship between donations and sales production.

• Perform cleaning duties across all store areas, including restrooms, as needed.

• Complete other duties as assigned.

Financial Management:

• Oversee store budget management, ensuring goals are met for processing, revenue generation, and expense control.

• Achieve a 90% or greater passing score on all store audits.

• Monitor business trends to identify factors impacting sales performance and take corrective actions to address deficiencies.

Loss Prevention:

• Maintain a clean, safe stockroom and ensure all staff follow safety protocols.

• Monitor suspicious activities, ensuring timely reporting, investigation, and resolution of loss prevention issues.

• Oversee the operation of store security and safety systems, including alarms, door locks, safes, office doors, and fire extinguishers.

• Ensure accuracy and timeliness in completing bank deposits, refunds, and incident reports.

Human Resources:

• Assist the Store Manager with recruiting, selecting, promoting, disciplining, and separating employees as needed.

• Document and report personnel issues for further action.

• Manage store operations in the absence of the Store Manager.

• Maintain a motivated and effective workforce through proper hiring, retention, training, and leadership.

• Communicate store reports, personnel status changes, and rehabilitation information accurately and promptly.

• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, utilizing HR resources to maintain discipline.

• Train new staff and provide ongoing training to promote excellence.

Education and Experience:

• Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • One year of supervisory experience with 3-10 team members, preferably in a retail or ready-to-wear environment.

  • Knowledge of profit and loss, sales, or cost management is essential.

• Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with customers, donors, and employees.

  • Must possess excellent organizational, communication, and math skills.

  • Computer literate and proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel).

• Language Skills:

  • Proficient in English (oral and written).

  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
