We have diverse and rapidly growing transportation practice in the US and are looking to further expand our services in the Active Transportation and Sustainability space with an emphasis on transportation solutions that create and support livable communities.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced Senior Transportation Planner to join our Mobility and Planning Group based on one of our Southeast Region offices. This role is pivotal in shaping transportation networks that enhance mobility and contribute to the sustainable development of urban and rural areas. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise in transportation systems and strong leadership skills. They will be responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of transportation projects, ensuring they meet safety, accessibility, equity, and sustainability goals. The candidate must have a thorough understanding of market needs, identify business opportunities, and maintain client relationships. As a manager, they are expected to supervise teams, manage project timelines, and ensure compliance with company policies and agency regulations.
Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- External Communications: Execute a communications plan within established systems and procedures.
- Operational Compliance: Maintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, and ensure own work adheres to required standards. Or identify, within the team, patterns of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and with relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, taking appropriate action to report and resolve these and escalating issues as appropriate.
- Content Creation: Write drafts and edit content in line with organizational style guidelines to format and publish information on websites and in print.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
- Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Contribute to stakeholder engagement by identifying stakeholders; by finding out their needs, issues, and concerns; and by reacting to these needs, issues, and concerns, arranging meetings and events and drafting supporting materials to promote understanding and commitment.
- Document Preparation: Edit document in line with organizational style guidelines and prepare information for publication.
- Information and Business Advice: Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving queries and issues and referring very complex or contentious issues to others.
What you will bring to the team:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Urban Planning, Architecture or similar degree
- At least 10 years of related experience with technical knowledge and skills across the Active Transportation and Sustainability practice areas.
- Ability and desire to expand and grow relationships and business in the Active Transportation and Sustainability space within the Southeast region.
- Strong eye for business to position for and secure transportation planning projects for existing and new GHD clients within Southeast region.
- Ability to mentor staff in a multi-disciplinary team and share skills and knowledge with staff and peers.
- Possess strong leadership in the management and delivery of Active Transportation and Other Planning projects.
