POSITION OVERVIEW

The Casework Supervisor's primary purpose is to provide support and direction to the Child Welfare Generalists (Social Workers) and administrative staff who report to them, and to ensure that services are delivered in accordance with accepted practices and within guidelines prescribed by Kainaiwa Children's Services Corporation's Policies and Procedures and Legislation, so that citizens and clients receive appropriate services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervision

    • Participate in the recruitment, orientation, and training of new employees.

    • Promote the professional development of all staff.

    • Establish unit and individual objectives.

    • Monitor and evaluate performance.

    • Provide emotional and professional support to staff.

  • Oversee Service Delivery

    • Monitor work to ensure adherence to Kainaiwa Children's Services Corporation's Policies and Procedures.

    • Implement and provide feedback on new policies and/or procedures.

    • Keep up to date on trends and program issues and changes in legislation, precedent, court protocols, or procedure.

  • Team Building

    • Develop and maintain systems to assist in building staff morale.

    • Provide support to staff and develop staff communication networks to enhance service delivery.

  • Administration

    • Review and monitor expenditures, both case and unit administration.

    • Recommend changes to the Case Manager and Senior Management regarding expenditures.

    • Maintain caseload and other statistics and provide reports as requested.

    • Process all personnel related documentation.

    • Develop systems to ensure balanced workload and cover-off.

  • Consultation

    • Provide case consultation with individual workers.

    • Participate in case conferences on complex and contentious cases.

    • Provide interpretation of broad Child Welfare legislation, policies, and procedures to various communities, agencies, and other helping professionals.

    • Assist in preparing cases for court.

  • Support community liaison partnerships.

  • Respond to community issues and concerns regarding Child Welfare and the safety of children.

  • Provide back-up and cover-off for the Case Manager as required.

  • Participate in internal and external committee involvement.

  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Worksite Manager.
