Summer Internship (May 2026- August 2026)
Position Overview
The Internship Program allows college students to learn the industry and gain hands-on experiences in Human Resources, Recruiting and Communications. In this position, you will work closely with experienced HR & Communication team professionals, gain exposure to real-world people operations, and build foundational skills for a future career in HR or Communications. You will complete tasks using both interpersonal and technical skills appropriate to the specific job assignment while adapting to new or changing situations in a team environment. You will also have the opportunity to network with Company leaders while presenting internship experiences and findings.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
HR Related Functions:
- Assist with recruitment activities: format and update job descriptions.
- Review Recruitment postings and materials and partnering with Region Recruiters
- Support HR projects as assigned, including project formatting and categorizing team channels
- Review our safety PPE (physical performance evaluations) requirements and update job descriptions and work with our 3rd party to standardize our testing requirements.
- Support Learning & Development Manager with new initiatives and programs
Communications Related Functions:
- Content Creation & Writing:
- Draft, edit, and proofread content for internal and external communications (including newsletters, website copy, social media posts, and employee-facing app updates) ensuring alignment with brand voice and standards.
- Assist in development of presentations, flyers, signage, promotional materials, and other communication assets for business leaders and internal stakeholders.
- Attend video and photo shoots to assist with logistics, shot lists, interviews, and behind-the-scenes support for internal communications.
- Digital & Social Media Support
- Assist in managing the company’s social media presence: drafting posts, scheduling content, monitoring engagement, and helping develop and execute new campaign ideas across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Compile reports on social media performance, analyzing metrics and identifying opportunities to improve reach and engagement.
Additional Responsibilities
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and all employees
- Ability to work independently or with little supervision.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Adherence to Texas Materials policies and procedures as outlined in the Texas Region Employee Handbook.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform and / or learn to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in HR, Business, Communications or related field
- Strong interest in Human Resources or Communications
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- High level of attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
- Reliable, proactive and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
