This Opportunity

WSP USA is initiating a search for a BIM Project Leader out of our New York, NY, Irvine, CA, Los Angeles, CA, Houston, TX or Dallas, TX or mutually agreed upon office.

The WSP Project BIM Leader is responsible for implementing and supervising drawing and modeling standards, managing drawing production, and performing non-routine and complex drafting and modeling assignments through the use of various software programs, primarily Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks and Autodesk Construction Cloud. The Project BIM Lead will report to WSP USA's National Property & Buildings Digital Practice team and is also responsible for implementing BIM initiatives throughout the project delivery such as providing guidance to staff with regards to training, company standards, and modeling.

Responsible for championing project BIM and Information Management functions for large scale Property & Buildings projects, the Project BIM Leader will be well versed in information management process and have previous experience leading multi-disciplinary project teams in all aspects of information production, delivery, and exchange. The Project BIM leader will also be responsible for steering BIM project delivery both internally and externally to WSP on projects and should have experience running coordination and production delivery meetings. 

This individual will lead the development and standardization of large scale industrial, manufacturing, and data center project delivery workflows where WSP acts as the BIM prime role in a project. The position will require the user to be involved primarily with BIM prime project work developing internal company standards of BIM Project Delivery. The BIM project leader will be involved directly with the Design Delivery teams and should be able to translate that work to internal standards for the company.

Your Impact

  • Advanced knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, and Autodesk Construction Cloud, including advanced modeling, custom family creation, drawing package management, clash detection and scripting.
  • Advanced knowledge of data information exchanges between Revit  Design software and other disciplines.
  • Advanced knowledge of Geo-referencing and internal coordinate workflows across various software (Infraworks, Revit, Civil 3D).
  • Experience with federating models from different authoring platforms for Visualization and Clash-Detection.
  • Responsible for supporting the development of 3D models for Transportation and Infrastructure Design. Ramp and Bridge design knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to create custom blocks and families to accurately reflect the Design.
  • Ability to anticipate and recognize issues related to own work.
  • Ability to gather appropriate resources in order to solve problems.
  • Self-educates and mentor other drafting staff, as well as engineers in BIM techniques.
  • Assists project/design managers by providing input on schedule and production tasks.
  • Believes in and champions the firms’ core values and inspires others to do the same.
  • Understands overall project scope, the role of BIM team, and the roles of other disciplines for a project.
  • Demonstrates an intermediate level of written and verbal communication both internally and externally.
  • Experience monitoring and successfully managing time spent versus time allocated for task completion.  
  • Understands basic firm financial terms and concepts.
  • Champions model and drawing quality standards.
  • Assists with managing the development and output of document sets for WSP engineering staff.
  • Performs project setups and updates with some direction of engineering staff with some supervisory guidance.
  • Implement drawing organization for large, complex drawing packages across multiple companies.
  • Facilitates collaboration and clash detection for a large, multi-discipline project team across multiple companies.
  • Troubleshoots general Civil 3D/Revit project-related issues with limited assistance of department management.
  • Participates in Civil 3D/Revit development.
  • Develops and mentors staff on WSP Revit standards and processes.
  • Self-Checks own work, and staff’s, to identify QA/QC improvement opportunities.
  • Leverages tools and technology to provide quality solutions to BIM team and staff. 
     

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in closely related discipline (or equivalent experience.)
  • 10+  years' experience using Civ
