Position Summary:

As a Distribution Clerk, you will ensure scheduling appointments for all inbounds/out bounds at Ventura Foods Ontario plant with clerical support to distribution operations on a daily basis. Ensure all customer orders are ready to ship on time and orders are completed, prepped and invoiced. Complete understanding of cross functional roles to include vacation relief and support for all shifts.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develops the Distribution and Receiving Schedules through communication with carriers, customer service, and transportation.  Inputs appointments into AS400.  
• Works with planning to ensure we are not shutting lines down and works to reschedule appointments when needed.  
• Help resolve problems, overages, shortages, damages and other issues from all 3shifts.  Research's and reconciles discrepancies and deals with customer service and traffic.
• Communicates with the Distribution Manager, Receiving Supervisor, Distribution Supervisors, and foremen to ensure alignment on schedule.  

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma/GED
• 1-3 years of experience as an Administrative/Clerical Clerk
• Warehouse environment experience preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

• Basic understanding of distribution operations
• Skill in complex problem solving and organizational and multi-tasking skills, allowing the incumbent to function effectively in complex and rapidly evolving situations
• Must have good interpersonal communication skills, basic computer skills and knowledge of excel and word
• Strong written (spelling, grammar, structure, clarity) and verbal (concise, clear, relevant, organized) communication skills are required
• Ability to utilize computer tools including spreadsheet, word processing and mainframe with minimal additional training or guidance
• Knowledge of Ventura Foods’ products, processes and systems as they relate to the transportation function.
• Must be flexible on work schedule

• Hourly Base Rate of $36,060 – $43,732.50 for Employees Located in California*

*The “hourly base range” provided above is a good faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position.   The range provided is for California-based employees as Ventura Foods is required by California State Law to post pay rates.  Ventura Foods reserves the right to pay outside of the given range based on a variety of factors including but not limited to: candidate skills and experience, complexity of the job, budgetary factors, and location/geography.  Ventura Foods conducts regular reviews of compensation ranges and therefore reserves the right to alter this range at any given time. 

 

Physical Demands:

Regularly requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.  Physical strength and dexterity sufficient to perform the required task(s). Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.  Additional demands may be required.

 

Work Environment:
