Senior Rails Operations Manager

STV is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Rails Operations Manager to join our team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing our Rails application operations, ensuring smooth and efficient performance, and managing a small team of developers and operations staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Ruby on Rails, cloud infrastructure, and operational best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of our Rails applications, ensuring high availability and performance.
Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues.
Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of developers and operations staff.
Provide technical guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Performance Optimization:
Analyze and optimize application performance, identifying and addressing bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
Implement best practices for code deployment, database optimization, and application scaling.
Security and Compliance:
Ensure the security and compliance of our Rails applications, implementing necessary measures to protect data and maintain regulatory standards.\
Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Incident Management:
Develop and maintain incident response plans and procedures.
Lead incident response efforts, coordinating with team members to quickly resolve issues and minimize downtime.
Infrastructure Management:
Manage cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and ensure it is properly configured and maintained.
Oversee infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and automation processes.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies.
Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes and practices to enhance efficiency and reliability.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Senior Rails Operations Manager or in a similar role.
Strong expertise in Ruby on Rails and related technologies.
Extensive experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
Proficient in performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting Rails applications.
Solid understanding of DevOps principles and practices.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a part-time capacity.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
Familiarity with database management and optimization (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
Experience with microservices architecture.
Compensation Range:
