Senior Rails Operations Manager

STV is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Rails Operations Manager to join our team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing our Rails application operations, ensuring smooth and efficient performance, and managing a small team of developers and operations staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Ruby on Rails, cloud infrastructure, and operational best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of our Rails applications, ensuring high availability and performance.

• Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues.

Team Leadership:

• Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of developers and operations staff.

• Provide technical guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

Performance Optimization:

• Analyze and optimize application performance, identifying and addressing bottlenecks and inefficiencies.

• Implement best practices for code deployment, database optimization, and application scaling.

Security and Compliance:

• Ensure the security and compliance of our Rails applications, implementing necessary measures to protect data and maintain regulatory standards.\

• Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.

Incident Management:

• Develop and maintain incident response plans and procedures.

• Lead incident response efforts, coordinating with team members to quickly resolve issues and minimize downtime.

Infrastructure Management:

• Manage cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and ensure it is properly configured and maintained.

• Oversee infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and automation processes.

Continuous Improvement:

• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, tools, and technologies.

• Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes and practices to enhance efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Senior Rails Operations Manager or in a similar role.

• Strong expertise in Ruby on Rails and related technologies.

• Extensive experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).

• Proficient in performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting Rails applications.

• Solid understanding of DevOps principles and practices.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.

• Strong leadership and team management skills.

• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a part-time capacity.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).

• Familiarity with database management and optimization (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).

• Experience with microservices architecture.

Compensation Range:

$140,352.00 - $187,136.00
