Description

The Department of Urology at University or Rochester is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant Professor to join our team. This faculty position will focus on molecular cell biology and data science research, contributing to cutting-edge discoveries in urologic diseases.

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will lead and collaborate on research projects investigating molecular mechanisms of urologic diseases, integrating molecular and cellular biology techniques with advanced data analysis methods. This role offers the opportunity to develop independent research while working closely with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and scientists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute research projects in molecular cell biology, focusing on urologic diseases.
  • Apply bioinformatics and data science approaches to analyze sequencing data, with a focus on R-based statistical and bioinformatics analyses.
  • Develop and optimize experimental protocols in basic molecular and cellular biology.
  • Collaborate with clinical and research faculty to integrate molecular data with clinical outcomes.
  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present research at national and international conferences.
  • Mentor graduate students and research staff.
  • Contribute to grant writing and securing external research funding.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Strong postdoctoral research experience in molecular and cellular biology.
  • Expertise in analyzing sequencing data using R and other bioinformatics tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research with a strong publication record.
  • Experience in grant writing is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The referenced pay range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries. Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
