Assignment Editor and Producer-Temp

ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM:

TelevisaUnivision is looking for an Assignments Editor and producer to join our team!  The Assignment/producer position is responsible for managing story assignments, coordinates logistics, and responds to breaking news. Candidates should be creative thinkers able to conceptualize interactive projects for broadcast and online components for our news digital platforms, in addition line producing.

YOUR DAY-DAY:

• Generate research, verify, plan and develop story ideas and breaking news for newscasts

• Coordinate editorial meetings

• Coordinate reporters, anchors, and photographers by assigning stories for news and special projects

• Maintain a plan for daily, weekly and future story lists.

• Act as a liaison with other news organizations, community contacts, and assignment desks

• Line produce in booth

• Regularly post on company’s social media with appropriate well written descriptions, and push notifications

• Monitor news wires, social media, and scanners to mobilize for breaking news.

• Participate in station’s special events and social media pages

• Must be able to work under pressure, manage breaking news and strict deadlines

• Minimum of 2-years’ experience in a newsroom required

YOU HAVE:

• Fully bilingual in English and Spanish

• Know basics of editing

• 1-year experience as a Producer and/or Assignment Editor preferred

• Bachelor’s Degree, in Journalism, Communications/New Media

• Should demonstrate good news judgement

• Have knowledge of current affairs

• Detail oriented, organized, disciplined, can manage multiple tasks/responsibilities in working with tight deadlines and juggle multiple projects simultaneously

• Creative and assertive

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, iNews, live feeds, and social media platforms

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, type, reach and sit for up to (8) hours

• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
