A Brief Overview
Assures daily efficient operation of acute care, rehabilitation or ambulatory clinical therapy services of the Center. Works with the Manager and other Supervisors to assure appropriate staffing and scheduling to maximize patient access and flow through the continuum of care. Assists in administration through the direct supervision of assigned clinical staff, including orientation, teaching, coaching and performance reviews. Renders professional services in area of licensure, as appropriate.
What you will do
- Supervision
- Orients and mentors staff assigned to the team. Provides regular ongoing supervision and support.
- Conducts mid-year and annual performance evaluations, with input from the appropriate Clinical Practice Coordinator and other Level IV staff, and works with the Manager to align individual goals and competencies with the programmatic needs of the Center
- Provides guidance to staff in interactions with physicians, nurses, vendors, payers and other members of the patient healthcare team
- Provides on-call weekend supervision, as scheduled
- Assures appropriate utilization of clinical support personnel (i.e., therapy aides)
- Administration
- Assures that patient consults are answered on a timely basis and assigned to an appropriate therapist
- Works with the other Team Leads to ensure efficient patient access and flow in response to daily patient census/volume and staffing pattern changes, including staff scheduled and unscheduled time off
- Works with the Manager and other Team Leads to ensure smooth patient transition across the continuum of care.
- Works with the other Team Leads to ensure seamless care provision on weekends and holidays through management of staff competencies and schedules
- As appropriate, works with the Specialty Care sites to maintain efficient operation through appropriate space and equipment maintenance, and development of specific initiatives and work flows, as necessary
- Assure that staff follow all appropriate professional and regulatory standards, policies and procedures, including those related to documentation, charge capture, productivity and payroll
- Participates in interviews and hiring of new staff
- Collaborates with Center leadership to enhance patient safety and patient care.
- Collaborates with the Center leadership on program development
- Performs other duties as assigned to promote overall effective coordination of clinical operations
- Education
- Collaborates with the Clinical Practice Coordinator to identify and address staff learning needs. Reviews the care of complex patients with the treating therapist (s).
- Assures appropriate skill mix and competencies of the team through in-services and cross-coverage assignments, in conjunction with the Clinical Practice Coordinator
- Collaborates with the other Team Leads and Clinical Practice Coordinator to assure staff competency and ability to provide coverage between teams, as needed
- Along with the Clinical Practice Coordinator and Manager, implements new practice patterns and evidence-based practice guidelines and ensures staff orientation and competency
- Patient Care
- Maintains patient caseload as appropriate, relative to number of staff supervised, administrative load, and patient census/volume and acuity
- Selects and administers appropriate evaluations to individuals with complex medical, social and psychological issues
- Develops a plan of care which includes measurable goals/objectives and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members, as appropriate
- Provides relevant family and caregiver training and instructs patients and fam
