Job Description
We are seeking a commercially driven and technically accomplished Senior Project Manager to join our Industrial Hygiene & the Built Environment Service Line. This is a high-impact, entrepreneurial opportunity for an experienced consultant with deep technical expertise in industrial hygiene, occupational health, indoor environmental quality, and building sciences, combined with a proven ability to develop client relationships, drive business growth, and lead complex projects.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and manage industrial hygiene and built environment consulting projects from initiation through completion.
- Deliver high-quality technical services while ensuring regulatory compliance, client satisfaction, and project profitability.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients across sectors including real estate, insurance, legal, construction, manufacturing, and public agencies.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to the continued growth of the Industrial Hygiene & the Built Environment Service Line.
- Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and technical reports, and support client presentations and business development activities.
- Provide technical guidance on industrial hygiene, indoor environmental quality, occupational health, and hazardous materials-related matters.
- Mentor and support junior staff, promoting technical excellence and professional development.
- Collaborate with colleagues across service lines to deliver integrated solutions and expand client relationships.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, and market opportunities to support strategic growth initiatives.
- Represent J.S. Held at industry events, professional associations, and client meetings to enhance the firm's market presence.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Environmental Health & Safety, Geology, Engineering, Occupational Health, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive consulting experience in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Consulting, or Built Environment services.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects involving industrial hygiene assessments, indoor environmental quality investigations, hazardous materials consulting, regulatory compliance, and occupational exposure evaluations.
- Proven success in developing and maintaining client relationships, securing new business opportunities, and delivering profitable project outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of federal, Pennsylvania, and/or New Jersey environmental and occupational health & safety regulations, including OSHA requirements and applicable state-specific compliance frameworks.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams, mentoring technical staff, and supporting a collaborative, client-focused culture.
- Strong project management, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client engagements while maintaining high standards of technical quality and client service.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and the broader Mid-Atlantic region to support client engagements and business development activities.

- Professional certifications such as CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), CAC (Certified Asbestos Consultant), LSRP (Licensed Site Remediation Professional - New Jersey), PG (Professional Geologist), or PE (Professional Engineer).
- Experience working with clients in commercial real estate, healthcare, higher education, construction, manufacturing, insurance, legal, and public-sector markets.
- Knowledge of asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, indoor air quality, silica, and other occupational or environmental exposure hazards.
