We are looking for you to join our team as a Field Engineer or Principal Field Engineer located in Fort Huachuca, Arizona.

What You’ll get to Do:

  • Support operations and maintenance of the VADER radar system to the Department of Homeland Security (Customs and Border Patrol / Air and Marine Operations).
  • Daily operational support: radar operations, providing intelligence analysis for mission planning, and guidance to air crew to optimize mission collection objectives.
  • Daily maintenance support: radar hardware and software checks, troubleshooting radar performance anomalies, and working with engineering team on anomaly resolution.
  • Attend meetings and serve as a liaison between Northrop Grumman, the customer and partner contract teams.  Direct interface with DHS site leadership on hardware, software, and operational issues.
  • Assist and develop proficiency with performance of other engineering and operational duties as required.
  • Coordinate and perform system hardware and software upgrades/patches.
  • Conduct fault isolation and component level repairs on defective hardware
  • Coordinate with site and Northrop logistics for delivery of replacement system equipment and removal of defective hardware.
  • Deploy to sister site in San Angelo, Texas, up to 25% of time.             

Basic Qualifications for Field Engineer:

  • Bachelor of Science degree and a minimum of 2 years’ of related experience. An additional 4 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2 years experience with and performing field integration, troubleshooting, and repair of systems at customer locations on a flight line or in a hangar or within a command-and-control center.
  • 2 years experience reviewing and analyzing of engineering schematics, supplier design data, support of functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration on the fielded systems.
  • Familiarity with Aircraft Vehicle operations associated with fielded systems.
  • Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed.
  • US Citizenship required.  
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain special program access. (Law Enforcement Background Investigation). Special program access is required to start. Must be able to maintain this level of access for continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills customer leadership skills
  • Experience with sensor payload maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with airborne radar systems and operations.
