The St. Joseph Medical Center (SJMC) Pharmacy Department is looking for a dynamic Pharmacist Intern to join our team to assist the Pharmacist in a per diem role. The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- assists the Pharmacist in the support of the drug distribution systems including patient counseling and pharmacokinetic calculations
- participates in performance improvement and data collections activities
- responsible for dosage preparation, preparation of sterile admixture using aseptic technique, floor stock delivery, pre-packaging, billing, receiving, and stocking
- participates in providing pharmaceutical care for the following age groups: neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- other responsibilities include: inventory control, controlled substances distribution, documentation and accountability, assisting in the inspection of medication storage areas throughout the hospital, and maintaining the cleanliness of the department
- all responsibilities are performed under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist according to local board of pharmacy and state regulations
- performs other tasks as assigned by the Pharmacist
- verify prescriptions, fill them and package them, take payment, and interact with customers
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience
- current enrollment as a Pharmacy Student
- current State Board of Pharmacy Certificate of Pharmacy Intern
