How can you make a difference?? 

Under the supervision of the Social & Economic Policy Manager, the staff member will be responsible for the following activities:

1. Evidence desks support for NatComs

2. Contribution to major reports, including Report Card

3. Child poverty research workstream

4. Other research and analytical support

5. Management and co-ordination

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have:

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: Advanced university degree in public policy, economics, social science, or related fields, with specialization in advanced statistical quantitative methods. 
  • Work Experience: At least five years of professional and progressively responsible experience in social research related to children.
    Substantial professional experience of research on the conceptualisation and measurement of child well-being and child poverty.
    Experience with writing for – and verbal presentation to – varied audiences, including both specialists and policy makers.
    A good record of professional publications in relevant academic and policy areas.
    Excellent knowledge of advanced statistical software (expertise in both Stata and R are required).
    Experience of qualitative and mixed-methods research.
    Experience of comparative international research.
    Experience of research with low-, middle- and high-income countries.
  • Skills: Strong research and analytical skills.
    Strong planning and organisational skills.
    Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
    Ability to work well as part of a team.
    Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
    Ability to form and maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships.
    Aims to achieve high standards for quality of work.
    Good leadership and management skills. 
  • Experience of research with low-, middle- and high-income countries.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English

Desirables:

A relevant PhD.

Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.

Fluency in another official UN language other than English (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish).
