General Manager, Operations

Description

The Greenway Waste & Recycling is seeking a General Manager who will lead and manage all aspects of the day-to-day service operations. This position will have oversight over ongoing operations, financial performance, geographic expansion, forecasting, quality control, and other functions necessary for the effective function of Greenway Waste. The General Manager will report to the COO and be a key strategic partner, thought leader, and ambassador of Greenway’s culture.

Responsibilities 

• Managing the operations team to drive accountability and performance across service quality, customer service, and productivity
• Implementing systems and processes to enhance customer and resident experience
• Optimizing operating productivity to include direct cost per unit served improvement
• Managing the operations budget 
• Partnering with the COO and Sales Leadership to develop organic growth strategies 
• Managing recruiting to ensure the proper workforce is in place for quality service delivery 
• Developing the operations management team to support growth and scale 
• Reducing employee turnover 

The General Manager will have extensive prior experience accomplishing and leading similar objectives.

In addition to the key initiatives laid out above, the General Manager will have the following responsibilities. Accordingly, the candidate’s prior professional experience should indicate a high level of competency in each of these areas: 

Coaching and Developing

• Cultivate young talent and coach around performance 
• Utilize leadership training program to develop a strong structural leadership foundation and pipeline 
• Teach professionalism and bring advanced business tools and principles into the organization 
• Create an environment of merit-based advancement and empowerment within the operations organization 
• Develop succession plans to support organizational growth 
• Practice servant leadership 

Strategic Leadership

• Be an engaged thought partner to the COO and other Executives 
• Play a significant role in business strategy development and implementation of new properties with sales and operations team 
• Performance Attainment & Process Improvement 
• Hold operators accountable for meeting goals 
• Identify areas needing improvement and address proactively 
• Be a thought leader on new processes and tools to improve performance and customer service 

Requirements

• Minimum of three years of proven experience at a manager or director level. 
• A history of successfully building effective cultures and growing similarly sized businesses, and the ability to win the hearts and minds of direct reports and rank-and-file employees 
• A background in technology enabled service industries with a strong understanding of field services. Multi-family experience is a plus
