Description
Job OverviewUnder direct supervision, a Cafeteria Specialist is responsible for preparing appropriate quantities of food to meet the menu requirements and maintain high standards of quality in food production, sanitation, and safety practices. The Cafeteria Specialist will promote an atmosphere which reflects efficiency, cleanliness and friendliness.
Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare quality food according to a planned menu using tested or standardized recipes
- Receive and is responsible for the storage and care of food items and supplies
- Maintain a clean and organized storage area
- Demonstrate knowledge and follow manufacturer guidelines for care and use of equipment
- Maintain sanitary working conditions to eliminate contamination
- Meet all scheduled meal times and serves the food as per departmental policies and procedures
- Complete Production Records as required by Texas Department of Agriculture
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and management to ensure students receive great nutrition and customer service

Qualification RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above essential duties satisfactorily. - High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Texas Food Handler's Certificate ability to obtain within 14 days of employment
- Reliable transportation to various work locations
- Ability to work with students and staff cooperatively
- Ability to obtain a Food Handler's Certification within 14 days of employment
- Ability to speak, read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English
- Basic math skills, computer skills, and ability to work with currency in a quick and accurate manner
- Experience in food service, preferred
