Position Overview:
The Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting Lead will serve as a key member of the GPGI Inc. ("GPGI") Corporate Finance organization, responsible for complex technical accounting matters, SEC reporting, consolidation, and financial statement disclosures. This is a dynamic exciting role that allows for working closely with Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Legal, Tax, Human Resources, and Operations at GPGI's various operating and Holdco entities. As well as interact with external auditors to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and internal control standards. This individual will be a valuable part of a larger team that is located either in Somerset, NJ or Toronto (suburb), Ontario, Canada.
The successful candidate will possess strong technical accounting expertise, SEC reporting and global consolidations experience, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced global public company environment. Technical accounting experience specifically in the following areas are a benefit: debt accounting, revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, business combinations, and consolidations.
Key Responsibilities:
SEC Reporting & Financial Reporting
- Prepare and review Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, and other SEC filings.
- Draft and review financial statement footnotes and related disclosures.
- Coordinate quarterly and annual reporting processes across Finance, Legal, Tax, Treasury, and business partners.
- Support preparation of MD&A and technical accounting disclosures.
- Ensure reporting complies with SEC regulations and U.S. GAAP.
Consolidation & Close Process
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation process.
- Review consolidation entries and intercompany eliminations.
- Assist with legal entity integration activities following acquisitions.
- Support financial statement preparation and reporting accuracy.
Technical Accounting
- Research, document, and conclude on complex accounting matters under U.S. GAAP.
- Prepare technical accounting memoranda supporting significant transactions and accounting conclusions.
- Lead accounting assessments related to:
- Revenue recognition (ASC 606)
- Stock-based compensation (ASC 718)
- Debt and financing transactions (ASC 470)
- Business combinations and purchase accounting (ASC 805)
- Consolidation and variable interest entities (ASC 810)
- Equity transactions and earnings per share
- Monitor new accounting pronouncements and evaluate their impact on the company.
- Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures.
Mergers & Acquisitions
- Lead or support accounting due diligence activities for acquisitions and strategic transactions.
- Lead or assist with purchase price allocations and opening balance sheet analyses.
- Prepare required accounting analyses and disclosures related to acquisitions and divestitures.
- Coordinate with valuation specialists and external advisors.
Internal Controls & Audit Support
- Support SOX compliance efforts and control documentation.
- Partner with internal and external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
- Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements and automation opportunities.
- Maintain strong documentation supporting accounting conclusions and SEC disclosures.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Treasury on debt transactions and covenant reporting.
- Partner with Human Resources and Legal regarding equity compensation programs.
- Support commercial teams on revenue contract reviews.
- Provide technical accounting guidance and training to finance personnel.
- Mentor and develop junior accounting staff.

Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA required.
