About Our School
St. Michael’s Catholic Preparatory School is a coeducational Catholic school serving students from Pre-K 3 through 12th grade in Austin, Texas. The Lower School comprises grades PK3-4th, the Middle School houses grades 5-8, and the Upper school includes grades 9-12. SMP provides a challenging and enriched curriculum that prepares students for higher education and beyond.
Purpose
The campus store manager will serve in the development, operation, planning, and management of the campus store, the concession stands and spirit wear, in association with St. Michael’s Catholic Preparatory School. This is a full-time, 12-month position and reports to the Director of Auxiliary Programs.
The auxiliary department is responsible for developing, promoting, and managing programs that generate additional revenue for the school and provide added value for our students, families, and the community. This includes the following programs:
- After-School Care and Enrichment
- Academic Competitions
- Campus Store
- Facility Rentals
- Transportation
- Summer Camp
As a result, the department advances the school’s brand as an innovative leader, cultivates admissions applicants for the school, and creates additional employment opportunities and benefits for our own personnel.
Essential Duties
With a primary focus on the campus store, this position will be required to:
- Perform duties having to do with the daily operations of the Campus Store and Concessions stands, including opening, sales, restocking, inventory, and closing.
- Ensure the campus store and all concession stands are operational for major school events and facility rentals.
- Manage all aspects of spirit wear design, promotion, and sales.
- Create and maintain an online presence for retail spirit wear purchasing.
- Maintain proper sanitation practices and ensure work area meets standards for cleanliness.
- Supervise students and other employees and provide training on job duties and POS procedures.
- Manage inventory for the spirit wear, the campus store, and concession stands.
- Recruit, schedule, train, and supervise employees, students, and parent volunteers.
- Respond to customer queries and complaints timely.
- Oversee pricing, inventory stock control, and merchandising.
- Partner with the Communications Department for advertising, brand management, and event schedule with the Director of Auxiliary Programs.
- Manage the budget, provide sales forecasts, and assist with variance analysis.
- Maintain thorough statistical and financial records.
- Monitor profitability, set and meet sales targets, and develop promotional strategies.
- Coordinate timely reporting of sales and changes in inventory with the business office.
- Carry out all other duties assigned by the Director of Auxiliary Programs.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma with at least five (5) years of related or experience in retail management – or - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business, Retail Management, Marketing, Finance, or a related field.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with businesses, organizations, and schools; and work with customers, community members, and parents.
- Dependability and willingness to support the varied needs of the team.
- Ability to stay calm in stressful situations and provide excellent customer service.
- Analytical skills to problem-solve and coordinate difficult situations.
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain within the first six months of employment, certifications in Adult and Child CPR/AED and First Aid.
- Ability to work weekday afternoons, weekday evenings, and weekends.
