Job Description
 

Sr Associate Scientist, Pivotal Biologics Analytical Operations

At a future date, this position will relocate to the Gilead corporate HQ in Foster City, CA

Job Responsibilities:

· Oversee daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and protocols.

· Assist in the purchasing of new laboratory equipment, materials, and reagents, ensuring that the laboratory is well-equipped to meet research and operational needs.

· Manage inventory and procurement processes to maintain adequate supplies and resources for laboratory activities.

· Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.

· Develop and implement laboratory policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and productivity.

· Manage and mentor laboratory staff, providing training and development opportunities.

· Contribute to the development and maintenance of the laboratory's data infrastructure, ensuring accurate and efficient data collection, storage, and analysis.

· Collaborate with IT to integrate analytical data into broader data science initiatives, supporting advanced data analysis and decision-making processes.

· Coordinate and supervise laboratory techniques such as HPLC/UPLC, CE-SDS, cIEF, LC-MS, and other techniques commonly used for biologics.

· Present findings to cross-functional internal/external teams.

· Contribute to analytical test methods, study protocols, technical reports, and regulatory filings.

· Facilitate cross-site collaboration by coordinating with other Gilead laboratories and external partners to ensure alignment and consistency in analytical methods and practices.

· Participate in cross-site meetings and projects to share knowledge, resources, and best practices.

Qualifications:

· MS degree with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience or BS degree with at least 5 years relevant industry experience.

· Proven experience in managing laboratory operations and staff.

· Excellent technical communication skills, both verbal and written.

· Understands the analytical life cycle concepts as applied to analytical development.

· Familiar with FDA and ICH guidelines relating to analytical procedure development and validation.

· Demonstrated skills in analytical instrumentation and data analysis (e.g., HPLC, CE, cIEF).

· Must think critically and creatively, determine appropriate resources for resolution of problems, and have strong organizational and planning skills.

· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

· Experience in cross-site collaboration and project management.

The salary range for this position is: $115,260.00 - $149,160.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
