Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking Systems Engineers to join the Phantom Works Systems Engineering and Integration Team in Berkeley, MO to support an exciting proprietary program that is critical to Boeing and our DoD Customers.  The selected candidate will work with subject matter experts (SMEs) across the program to develop a complex and highly integrated weapons system while embracing the Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering strategy.  

The selected individual will lead system architects, engineering SMEs and other stakeholders in implementing, developing, and managing the MBSE approach for the program, in coordination with the System Engineering team and program leadership. The ability to work and lead in a collaborative team environment on-site and across engineering disciplines will be imperative to this role.  The selected individual will work in a fast paced, innovative environment where excellent technical, organizational, leadership, written and verbal communications skills are essential.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Senior and Principal Systems Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead program wide cross-functional engineering teams in developing systems to meet project/program commitments, including support of deliveries and customer reviews

  • Influence strategic direction and leverage Systems Engineering experience to shape, implement, maintain, and refine the systems engineering approach

  • Lead the program in implementing MBSE as part of digital engineering to meet customer expectations including definition of MBSE approach and feature development.

  • Lead and shape Systems Engineering efforts such as requirements decomposition, system architecture, environments analysis, specification development, trade studies, program planning, interfaces management, risk management, certification planning & execution, verification & test planning, and overall integration and capture them in the MBSE model as appropriate

  • Interface with Systems Engineering and MBSE counterparts across the enterprise to establish lessons learned and best practices

  • Mentor, coach and advise engineers across the program in SE tools, techniques, planning and strategy

  • Guide the cross program/domain integration of systems engineering, particularly MBSE, into the Digital Engineering Ecosystem to establish digital models as an integral part of the technical baseline

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • (Level 5): 14+ years of working experience with a Bachelor’s OR 12+ years with a Master’s OR 9+ years with a PhD

  • (Level 6): 20+ years of working experience with a Bachelor’s OR 18+ years with a Master’s OR 15+ years with a PhD

  • Experience across technical domains and life cycle phases

  • Experience leading cross-IPT architecture development

Typical Education/Experience: 

Lead (Level 5):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

(Level 6):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+15 years' related work experience, Master+18 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
