Summary:

The Senior Manager of Fleet Maintenance (Regional) is responsible for leading the maintenance and repair operations of the company’s fleet to ensure safety, reliability, and cost efficiency. This role partners closely with the Director of Fleet Maintenance to execute strategic initiatives, optimize shop performance, and drive results through key performance metrics. The position oversees technicians and shop leaders while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop, and retain a team of maintenance technicians and shop leaders
  • Oversee daily fleet maintenance operations across the region
  • Implement maintenance schedules, procedures, and best practices
  • Ensure all vehicles meet company standards and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor and drive performance through key metrics and shop KPIs
  • Manage maintenance budgets, control costs, and identify savings opportunities
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and enforce safety protocols
  • Serve as subject matter expert on maintenance systems, tools, and technologies
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure fleet availability and reliability
  • Manage parts inventory, vendor relationships, and service providers
  • Support contract negotiations with external vendors
  • Track, analyze, and report on maintenance performance to leadership
  • Promote continuous improvement, training, and skill development across the team
  • Lead a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence
  • Take on special projects that support business and operational goals

 

Qualifications required:

Education

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related field OR minimum of 7 years of fleet maintenance experience

Experience

  • 5+ years of fleet maintenance experience
  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role focused on shop operations
  • Experience managing technicians, shop performance, and maintenance programs

 Additional Qualifications, preferred:

  • Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance operations and regulatory compliance
  • Experience with fleet management systems, diagnostic tools, and onboard vehicle technology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance software systems
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of integrity, organization, and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
  • Strong collaboration skills across teams and stakeholders

 

Work Environment:

This position is located in an active industrial manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation. The role may require extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots. The fast-paced environment involves time-sensitive and safety sensitive operations and may include various shift schedules to support production and distribution needs.
