JOB TITLE:                 Cemetery Mower

CLASSIFICATION:    Non-Exempt – Seasonal

DEPARTMENT:        Cemetery

SUPERVISOR:          Cemetery Supervisor and Cemetery Manager

SALARY:                    $14-$17 Per Hour

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION                                                                                                  

 Perform a variety of unskilled labor activities in the routine maintenance of Cemetery grounds.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                              

• Assist in maintaining cemetery complex; assist in weeding, weed eating, fertilizing, watering and mowing.
• Operate power mowers, weed eaters a variety of hand tools and truck and tractor equipment.
• Perform minor maintenance, including leveling headstones, raising headstones, pruning shrubs, painting, and road maintenance.
• Assist with the installation and repair of underground irrigation systems.
• Clean, sweep and pick up trash within the cemetery grounds.
• Report all acts of vandalism or damage to buildings, grounds and equipment to supervisory personnel.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Perform all assigned tasks in a safe and timely manner.

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                                               

• Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES                                                                            

• Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
• Skills to operate power equipment used in grounds maintenance.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to communicate clearly and follow instructions.
• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB                                                                                

Required:

Formal or informal education, training, or experience which ensures the ability for successful job performance.  Must be at least 16 years of age at the time of application.
