Join our Health Care Team as a Health Care Paralegal based in our Sacramento office.

This role will be based in our Sacramento office, on a hybrid basis. Regular in-office presence is required for day-to-day operations, as well as for team meetings, training opportunities, and relationship building. This role reports to the Business Director.

Position Summary

The paralegal provides support to attorneys in the Health Care Practice, assisting with regulatory filings, administrative hearings, legal research, document management, and client matters. This role supports the efficient handling of healthcare-related regulatory and transactional matters while ensuring accuracy, organization, and responsiveness to client needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists attorneys in all stages of regulatory filings, administrative hearings, and transactional matters

  • Drafts common pleadings, motions, briefs, memorandums, notices and other court filings as needed for administrative hearings

  • Drafts agendas and minutes for client meetings

  • Assists with basic legal research, including locating cases, statutes and regulatory materials; conduct fact research on internet and private search engines, such as Westlaw and Lexis

  • Oversees organization, maintenance and appropriate utilization of documents and other related materials

  • Oversees and conducts document reviews and document productions; prepares documentation regarding criteria changes; tracks and reports on review progress and results

  • Performs analytical tasks, reviews and summarizes documents, and drafting applications for regulatory filings

  • Assists and manages administrative hearing preparations, identifies and organizes exhibits, coordinates witness schedules, maintains hearing calendars and communicates effectively with opposing counsel and courtroom staff

  • Assists in preparation of administrative hearing filings including briefing, motions for costs and sanctions, etc. and organize the case for appeal if necessary

  • Maintains timely and accurate timekeeping records daily

  • Communicates with clients, healthcare regulators, and administrative bodies

  • Performs in-person regulatory filings and submissions with state agencies and regulatory bodies, including the California Board of Pharmacy

  • Assists with other department activities as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to communicate professionally and interact effectively with all levels of personnel, including management staff and support staff

  • Demonstrated attention to detail, reliability, outstanding organizational skills and ability to learn new technology

  • Excellent client service skills and ability to work on multiple matters simultaneously in an organized manner and under minimal supervision

  • Flexibility and ability to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines

  • Proven ability to draft clear and concise memoranda, detailed fact summaries, pleadings and other documents

  • Established understanding of Health Care practice specific laws and regulating bodies such as CDPH, DHCS, Board of Pharmacy, Medical Waste, etc.

  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion

Education & Prior Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; equivalent experience considered

  • Paralegal certificate preferred; must meet the qualifications required to serve as a paralegal un
