Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm

Days: Monday-Friday

Flexible WFH Monday and Friday

Extended hours as needed during the week, and occasional weekends as needed for business needs

APMEX is seeking an experienced Freight Claims Manager to oversee all aspects of claims processing and resolution for our precious metals business. The Freight Claims Manager oversees the end-to-end process of managing, investigating, and resolving freight claims across all transportation modes. This role ensures timely and accurate claims handling, minimizes financial losses, drives carrier performance improvement, and supports strong relationships with internal teams, carriers, and customers. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, analytical, and experienced in navigating complex logistics environments.

Claims Management & Resolution


Manage the full lifecycle of freight claims, including loss, damage, overage, and shortage claims.
Investigate claim details, analyze supporting documentation, and determine liability.
File claims with carriers within required timelines and follow up on statuses proactively.
Negotiate claim settlements to maximize recovery and minimize company loss.
Ensure claims are processed accurately, consistently, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards.


Carrier & Vendor Coordination


Serve as the primary point of contact for carriers regarding claim issues and dispute resolution.
Monitor carrier performance, trends, and claim ratios; escalate recurring issues.
Collaborate with carriers to drive root-cause corrective actions and service improvements.


Internal Collaboration


Partner with Operations, Transportation, Customer Service, and Warehouse teams to collect documentation and understand shipment issues.
Provide guidance and training to internal departments on freight claim best practices, documentation needs, and preventative measures.
Support the finance team with month-end reporting, accruals, and reconciliation activities.


Data Analysis & Reporting


Maintain accurate claim records, documentation, and files.
Track KPIs such as recovery rates, cycle time, carrier performance, and cost avoidance.
Produce regular dashboards, summaries, and ad‑hoc reports for leadership.
Identify trends and recommend process improvements to reduce recurring claim issues.


Process Improvement


Evaluate and optimize the claims process for efficiency, transparency, and compliance.
Implement standardized procedures, documentation requirements, and recordkeeping practices.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing freight damage, loss, and carrier-related issues.

QualificationsEducation:


Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field (preferred) 


Experience:


3–5+ years of experience in freight claims, transportation management, or logistics operations.
Strong working knowledge of carrier liability, NMFC classifications, and freight claim regulations.
Experience with LTL, FTL, parcel, ocean, and/or air freight claims (as applicable to your industry).


Computer Skills:


Proficiency with claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite


Preferred Qualifications:


Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to interpret bills of lading, delivery receipts, W&I documents, and proof‑of‑delivery.
Proficiency with TMS systems, claims management platforms, and Microsoft Office (Excel required).
Ability to manage multiple priorities with strict deadlines.
Customer‑focused, collaborative, and highly organized.
