About the role

Summary

The Senior Biostatistician provides advanced statistical expertise to support the design, analysis, and interpretation of clinical, epidemiological, and translational research studies. This role involves developing statistical analysis plans, performing complex data analyses, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and scientific standards. The Senior Biostatistician collaborates with investigators, clinicians, and research teams to deliver high-quality statistical input for protocols, grant applications, manuscripts, and regulatory submissions. Additionally the position may mentor junior staff, contributing to methodological innovation, and communicating findings to multidisciplinary stakeholders.

 

This position operates within a collaborative research environment, supporting investigators in designing high-quality studies and producing impactful scientific publications. The position plays a critical role in advancing evidence-based medicine and improving patient outcomes through rigorous statistical methodology.

Job Duties

  • Advanced Statistical Analysis
    • Perform complex analyses such as survival analysis, Bayesian methods for clinical trail designs, longitudinal data modeling, mixed-effects models, joint modeling, and adaptive trial designs.
  • Study Design & Documentation
    • Design and review study protocols, including statistical analysis plans and sections for regulatory/IRB submissions, grant applications, presentations and manuscripts.
    • Determine appropriate sample sizes and power calculations for clinical and observational studies.
    • Design and implement adaptive and innovative trial methodologies when applicable.
  • Interpretation & Communication
    • Interpret and present statistical results for publications, presentations, and regulatory documents.
    • Provide statistical consultation to investigators, clinicians, and research staff.
    • Communicate complex statistical concepts clearly to non-statistical audiences.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to scientific discussions.
  • Data Access & Management
    • Collaborate with clinical data managers and Research IT teams to ensure accurate data acquisition and analysis.
  • Leadership & Mentorship
    • Mentor junior biostatisticians and research staff, fostering development in statistical methods and programming.
  • Programming & Validation
    • Oversee and validate statistical programming outputs using R, SAS, Stata, Python, or similar tools.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Statistics, Biostatistics or a  related field.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in clinical or academic research; experience with clinical trial design.
  • Proficiency in R, SAS, Strata and/or Python; experience with advanced statistical modeling and simulation.
