About This Role 

The Tides Network Senior Director of Finance is a core member of the Finance team at Tides, providing financial leadership, strategy, and operational excellence across its entities. Tides Network is the core supporting organization for Tides Foundation, Tides Center, Tides Converge, and other related entities. This role will be responsible for financial and accounting integrity across all Tides entities, including: 

  • Financial Leadership: Working closely with Tides CFO and Senior Finance Directors to collaborate on strategic, financial, and operational goals for the organization. 
  • Strategic leadership: Visioning and implementing impact-focused financial systems, reports and analyses, processes, and solutions for organization. 
  • Owning Tides’ consolidated financials and accounting across all Tides entities. Leading and managing annual budget, audit, and compliance across Tides entities in partnership with the Finance Leadership team, ensuring timely delivery, accuracy, and integrity.  
  • Creating operational excellence, including the quality and integrity of all accounting functions, accurate and timely reporting for Tides entities, and the operational fitness of internal controls related to accounting procedures, policies, and generally accepted accounting principles. 
  • Collaborating across the organization on Tides’ initiatives and operational goals while representing Finance team considerations on sustainability, GAAP compliance, staff capacity, and systems interoperability.  
  • Developing a high-performing financial practice to support the organization’s impact objectives.  
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing a high performing team, currently consisting of approximately 20 staff.     

 

What you will Do 

Strategic Leadership 

  • Work with Tides Finance Leadership team to provide the organization immediate and long-term strategic recommendations, alternatives, analysis, and support aligned with Tides’ strategic mission and impact goals. 
  • Collaborate with internal leadership teams to align Tides financial staff, systems, processes, reports, and infrastructure to the vision for Tides’ organizational goals. 
  • Provide strong finance voice and mentorship across organization and Finance team, representing Tides’ mission and financial goals as well as compliance considerations. 
  • Develop the financial strategies and infrastructure to support operating excellence and sustainable growth, including audit-ready financial processes, smooth monthly and year-end close, KPI-centered management of financial processes, technology-enabled automation, and robust user-friendly systems.  
  • Align Tides Network financial operations to a rigorous compliance approach by ensuring that effective internal controls are in place and that staff are aligned and properly trained. 

  

Operational Leadership 

  • Daily and overall ownership of Tides’ financials across all entities. Responsible for effective administration, design, operations, and integrity of Tides’ general ledger system and integrations with other systems. 
  • Ensure the integrity of accounting operations with robust training, documentation, separation of duties and double checks, management reviews, exceptions testing, and reconciliations. 
  • Provide direct daily supervision of Tides’ general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting and analysis, and credit card teams.  
  • Lead and manage monthly close process across all entities in collaboration with other members of Finance Leadership team. 
  • Lead and manage annual audit and tax filings with assistance of Senior Finance Directors of Tides’ other entities.  
  • Lead and manage annual budget and reforecasting processes.
