Roles and Responsibilities:

Job Summary/Overview:

The Gas and Chemical Systems (GCS) Safety Coordinator acts as the safety leader for the department and is a key member of the site safety culture. The role is focused on leading safety based programs and initiatives for the GCS department. The Safety Coordinator will lead high quality safety programs, and drive performance and competency in all aspects of safety.

The role requires the safety expertise needed to effectively lead the group responsible for a wide range of systems that supply hazardous materials and conduct large scale operations on a 24/7 basis. This includes the ability to support large scale operations and maintenance by serving as an expert safety resource.

The Safety Coordinator will possess a passion for promoting a healthy and positive safety culture within the department and across the Facilities organization.

Specific Job Duties:

Safety Program Leadership:

• Develop, lead and improve programs designed to promote safety awareness, understanding, and compliance
• Collaborate with Facilities Safety Representatives and EHS team members to drive improvements in all aspects of safety management and education
• Develop hazard control designs, methods, procedures and programs
• Assemble, present, and communicate high quality materials to illustrate performance, strategies, and concepts related to department and site safety
• Manage department safety specifications and protocols
• Initiate and manage all other departmental Safety communications, such as Weekly Reporting, Safety Flashes, Quarterly Meetings, safety topics, etc.
• Lead or participate in Safety Task Force Teams and other site-wide initiatives as needed to support the ‘Journey to Zero’ program
• Compile and analyze results from the annual Safety Perception Survey, report findings to leadership and track action items and drive improvements to performance.

Safety Expertise

• Supervise and provide guidance to internal and vendor/contractor teams related to field operations and maintenance
• Create and implement safety programs and training including (but not limited to) HPM maintenance and operations, confined space work, fall restraint work
• Drive awareness and understanding of site EHS programs related to GCS
• Lead incident investigations and consistent follow up on preventive actions
• Ability to anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices during task performance
• Provide safety training to both internal and external team members, as well as to employees across the site


Shift:

1st shift M-F 8am-5pm

Skills and Qualifications:

Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required

• Minimum of high school education or equivalent with 3+ years of experience in Health and Safety
• H&S experience must be within large scale operations and maintenance involving hazardous materials
• Associate of Science in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or closely related field preferred
• Possession or pursuit of professional safety designations a plus
• Familiarity with hazardous materials, related regulations,
