The Department of Economic Security, Office of Inspector General (OIG), is seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to join our team as an Investigator Senior (Security Area Manager). In cooperation with the DES Office of Inspector General, Protective Services Administration (PSA) senior leadership, the Investigator Senior (Security Area Manager) directs the development, implementation, and management of effective security strategies at multiple DES facilities in assigned areas of responsibility. This role develops, maintains, and updates security plans, procedures, and processes, to include those implemented by contracted security personnel.
The Security Area Manager conducts initial investigative activities as needed. Directs contract security staff, and DES staff at various facilities to ensure security needs are met. Conducts thorough investigations of incidents involving contracted security staff, submits Vendor Performance Reports of investigation and findings to Office of Procurement /State Procurement. Travel required for State business.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the department's needs and continual meetings of expected performance measures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develops, implements, and maintains security processes, practices and policies to reduce risks and responds to critical incidents. Assists in mitigating security situations involving contract security personnel, employees, and/or clients. Identifies witnesses, liaisons with law enforcement and/or emergency personnel as necessary and assist in investigative activities as needed. Travel required for State business.
- Directs the workflow for the security staff within the assigned region and reviews post orders at various facilities. Ensures all goals and objectives are met timely and effectively.
- Establishes training programs and provides instruction for security personnel. Performs physical security spot checks at facilities to ensure compliance with all applicable policies, standards and contract requirements. Develops and conducts Security Awareness Training for all DES Employees.
- Oversees the tracking and trending of employee and visitor security. This includes referencing all incident reports and field investigations. Presents security findings and recommendations to the OIG PSA and facility leadership. Researches and recommends technology solutions and security management techniques to safeguard the organization’s assets.
- Conducts security assessment of assigned facilities in the field. Ensures the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) model is followed. Orchestrates on-site internal and external security inspection of facilities and analyze crime trends /statistics, to identify security concerns.
