Purpose:
Assist Collateral Risk Director by performing analysis of commercial real estate (CRE) and multifamily (MF) loans offered as collateral, providing loan collateral portfolio surveillance, reporting collateral portfolio stratification and concentration levels, and researching CRE/MF industry related trends. Communicates with staff and members by discussing collateral procedures and eligibility requirements.

Specific Responsibilities:
Specializes in analyzing CRE and multifamily loans. Works to determine what CRE/MF loans may be eligible for pledge. Communicates with staff and members by discussing collateral procedures and assisting with the securitization of Bank credit products.
Reviews members other real estate related collateral programs for approval to pledge collateral within that category – may include participations, seconds, and CRE loan collateral, etc. Makes recommendations to management for review.
Performs detailed front-end and continued analysis of large CRE/MF loans offered as collateral prior to pledge and on a continual basis. Assessments entail review of member’s provided analysis reports and other relevant available information. Present loan features, key facts, and recommendation to management for review.
Research CRE markets and identifies market trends and developments. Prepares regular reports for Collateral Risk management and recommends appropriate actions to mitigate risk as market changes warrant.
Maintains relevant tools and reports to track collateral trends, estimate impact of product changes, estimate impact of changes in CRE/MF market conditions (i.e. property valuations, credit environment, etc.), and for miscellaneous reports required by various parties including management, FHLBI Board of Directors, regulatory agencies, etc.
Assists with CRE loan portfolio exposure surveillance and monitoring at Bank level and at the member level.
Performs related duties to monitor CRE collateral such as reviewing appropriate collateral coverage, assisting to determine collateral liquidation values, and assisting with on-site audits of members’ CRE loan collateral.
