Job purpose

 

The purpose of the UX Designer is to support the creative direction of our industry-leading eCommerce platforms, help develop innovative customer-centric shopping experiences that propel us to 25% of digital sales by 2025 and identify opportunities to serve customers at each step of the contractor lifecycle. This role reports directly to the Manager, User Experience Design.  

  

To succeed in this role, you must be a team player looking to grow your skillset, explore and learn how to work within a diverse, remote team that spans across continents. You must be willing and able to adapt your strategy and design to fit the ever-changing needs of the business and feel comfortable with deadlines and a ticket system.

 

This is a junior role, some UX experience is preferred, but not necessary.

 

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

UX/UI Designer Responsibilities include:

• Responsibly and effectively advocate for customers
• Understand the end-to-end Beacon customer journey, and identify opportunities for improvement in the digital customer experience
• Drive exploration of new customer experiences to help customers maximize the value Beacon provides them
• Create user-centered designs by considering market analysis, customer feedback, technical constraints/opportunities, and usability findings
• Contribute to the UI architecture, interface, and interaction flow for new and existing features and functionality
• Create process flows, and visual design mockups as needed to conceptualize and communicate detailed interaction behaviors
• Contribute to a global design system and advocate for its use with internal and third-party teams
• Design, advocate for, and conduct user studies, such as user interviews, usability testing, A/B testing
• Analyze user experience problems and develop solutions that meet measurable business goals and requirements
• Work closely with eCommerce and technical team members to develop user stories, features, and requirements
• Partner with Sales, Marketing and Developers to understand customer and business need and drive great customer experiences

 

Qualifications

 

• M.S. or B.S. in HCI, Graphic Design or equivalent
• Familiarity with user experience as a field, or experience as an interaction designer, product designer, or similar role
• Familiarity with A/B, multivariate and other quantitative testing techniques
• Experience with qualitative User Research techniques (e.g., usability studies, interviews, etc.)
• Experience creating production specs/assets, working directly with developers for implementation of designs
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present a rationale for design decisions to senior leaders
• A portfolio demonstrating experience creating elegant user-centered design solutions
• Experience driving mobile first design initiatives
• Ability to work in a diverse team
• Strong desire and ability to push for innovative, forward-looking solutions preferred
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript preferred
• Demonstrated holistic and systems thinking approach to problem solving preferred
• Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
