A part-time Intern is being recruited to work with the faculty and clinical research team in the Cord Blood Transplant (CBT) Program. The intern will work under the supervision of the PI and Project Manager, and will gain experience in data entry and analysis, lab work, and an understanding of oncology research. Additional learning opportunities will be determined in collaboration with the intern that are in line with long-term career goals. The Intern will participate in the organization of the Cord Blood Repository database, utilizing lab practices, management, and safety. The goal of the position is to enhance knowledge of the healthcare and research environment.
This internship is part time and number of hours per week are flexible based on the intern’s availability within normal business hours.
Responsibilities
- Work in a laboratory space and interact with laboratory personnel following established lab safety protocols.
- Collaborate with members of the research team and assist with various projects.
- Observe other projects as agreed upon by both the intern and CBT research team.
- Assist with Data entry and analysis using basic computer skills and programs such as Excel and RedCap.
- Shadow and explore career paths of interest within the CBT.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School graduate
- Evidenced interest in health care and/or research.
- Works well collaborating with others.
- Highly Motivated with evidence of experience with leadership roles
- Prior internship and/or some experience in a lab environment
- This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to problem solve and eagerness to learn.
- Collaborative focus is essential, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills, including computer skills.
- Technical skills necessary to complete learning opportunities via remote environment if necessary.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.00 to $25.45 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees access to a retirement savings plan, an employee assistance program, paid sick leave (1 hour for every 30 hours worked), and prorated paid holidays (up to 11 days per year).
