Role Summary:
As a Medical Assistant within the orthopedic team, you will engage directly with patients, performing a variety of clinical, maintenance, and administrative tasks. Your responsibilities will include preparing exam rooms, interviewing patients, recording medical histories, and educating patients on orthopedic care. You will also assist with scheduling appointments, surgery coordination, and maintaining clean clinical areas. Strong customer service skills, organizational abilities, and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential for this role.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare exam rooms prior to patient arrival.
- Interview patients to obtain medical information and vital statistics.
- Record patients' medical history, height, and weight.
- Educate patients on cast care, traction care, and the use of orthopedic appliances.
- Input orders directed by physicians (e.g., x-rays, physical therapy).
- Schedule necessary appointments (return visits, post-ops, follow-ups).
- Coordinate surgery scheduling, including preoperative testing and equipment.
- Assist with patient flow and provide direct patient care as directed.
- Maintain clean and well-stocked treatment rooms and clinical areas.
- Respond to phone calls, triage appropriately, and resolve issues the same day.
