About the role

The Clinical Research Coordinator position is located in the lab of Dr. Monica Rivera Mindt, within the Dept. of Neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, which is dedicated to: 1) increasing the inclusion and engagement of diverse populations in cognitive aging and dementia research; 2) investigating health inequities and related mechanisms in cognitive aging and dementia; and 3) cultivating a diverse, culturally competent workforce to work with diverse populations.

Serves as Clinical Research Coordinator of multi-site clinical study activities (activation, maintenance, and closure processes). Serves as a liaison among the Principal Investigator/research team, participating sites, study sponsors, and other collaborators to administer protocols, ensuring goals and objectives are met according to set timelines. May support, guide, train, and lead team members in the implementation of study related activities. May manage external sites participating in studies. Provides oversight and supervision to staff and volunteers. Oversees and provides administrative project management to investigators conducting multiple projects. They will oversee timelines and milestones to ensure that targeted deadlines are met.

  • Works closely with the other team members on this and related projects and community research partners to ensure enrollment, engagement, and scientific goals are met for all components of the study
  • Assists in the implementation of database systems (e.g., Redcap, Ripple, and more)
  • Facilitates the development and deployment of educational and training materials for all team members
  • Keeps regulatory documents compliant, prepare progress reports, track and implement quality assurance standards, liaise with multiple cores and studies, and actively participate in the hiring and supervising of study team members.
  • Contributes to the implementation and management of administrative projects’ management functions for a unit or department
  • Manages, assigns, and performs projects’ project coordination services for investigators
  • Provides assistance with education and training initiatives.
  • Contributes to the development of protocols, related documents, manuscripts, and Case Report Forms
  • Coordinates, facilitates, and documents meetings and trainings
  • Education: Bachelors degree in science or related field preferred, or a combination of relevant research experience and education
  • Experience: 0-2 years of clinical or laboratory research experience
  • Prior experience with community engagement, diverse populations, and of being part of an academic clinical research group. Additionally, prior experience with coordination of adult learning activities is helpful.
  • At least one year of direct project coordination experience, along with experience in public health, medical and health sciences, is strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of translational health and medical science research, including managing data sets is preferred
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, with demonstrated ability to set priorities and goals with adherence to project timelines required
  • Evidence of strong operational skills with attention to detail is essential
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Slack, RedCap, and basic statistical software is preferred.
