About the role

Description

The University of Chicago’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine is searching for a full-time faculty member to lead our busy Level 1 orthopaedic trauma service. The appointee will have inpatient and outpatient responsibilities in the context of a career in academic orthopaedics. The appointee will also direct the orthopaedic trauma team by providing strategic and operational direction of the trauma group's clinical, scholarly, and educational initiatives and serving as the representative on relevant institutional committees. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent on qualifications.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be Board certified or eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery, and 4) have completed an ACGME-approved orthopaedic surgery residency or its equivalent.   

We especially welcome applicants who have completed an ACGME-approved fellowship or its equivalent in orthopaedic traumatology. Additionally, we welcome applicants with expertise in orthopaedic trauma surgery, leadership and operational experience, strategic work, participation in leadership development programs, and scholarly program development.
