The Job:  

As a Senior Firmware Engineer, you’ll be part of our Electrification and Advanced Technology Group (ETA) team working as an on-site employee.    We are co-located with our TOOLS and OUTDOOR teams at our engineering headquarters in Towson, Maryland.  We are a small, hands-on, diverse team of dedicated engineers responsible for advancing electrification through our core business.  We work closely with our marketing, engineering and business leader to identify new needs, to designing and prototyping tools to ensure we meet our customers high expectations, to creating robust tests to guarantee the tools we make stand up to the toughest environments, our engineers own every aspect of the process along the way.  You’ll get to:  

  • Implement advanced motor control algorithms such as Sensorless motor control on various proof-of concept prototypes.
  • Design, simulate, implement, and test new control functionality in an embedded system
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for work performed
  • Document all designs and decisions so that others can understand and expand.
  • Communicate with customers to understands their needs
  • Keeps up with latest technological advancements in Semiconductor and Motor technologies that are relevant to Stanley Black and Decker.

The Person:

  • BSEE/MSEE Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • 2-3 years’ Experience with C and C++ software development.
  • Knowledge of assembly programming. 
  • Experience with using microcontrollers, its associated peripherals such as timers, ADC, communication interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C), etc.
  • Basic knowledge of motor drive systems and understanding of algorithms to control motors.
  • Knowledge of Embedded systems to write firmware for embedded microcontrollers.
  • Experience with both hardware and software development
  • Experience with using electronic equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, digital multimeters etc.

The base pay range for this position in Maryland is $ 68,500.00 - 123,500.00 USD AnnualUSD Annual per year. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
