What Will Do You
Hot Section Engineering at Pratt & Whitney is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and curious individual to join our Core Durability group. Core durability engineers are responsible for developing thermal analysis and lifing tools to support the design of aero-engine hot section components such as airfoil, BOAS, and combustor. The candidate is expected to have deep fundamental knowledge on heat transfer and fluid flow. Background knowledge on hot section component damage mechanisms (i.e., CMAS infiltration, spallation, TMF, etc.) is a plus.
- The candidate will work closely with the materials, methods, and durability CIPT teams at P&W
- Mentor and technically guide durability engineers in performing computational fluid dynamics analyses
- Execute thermal analyses of cooled and uncooled turbine airfoils and BOAS
- Hot section component mission life and validation analyses
- Interface with internal and external customers, including manufacturing, casting, overhaul, and repair facilities
- Document and present technical material to design teams, senior leadership, and executives to drive informed decisions
Qualifications You Must Have
- BS in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- 5 years of engineering experience, 3 years with an advanced degree
- Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship
Qualifications We Prefer
- Masters Degree or PhD preferred in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Knowledge and publication in thermal sciences
- Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills

Hot Section Engineering (HSE)
Hot Section Engineering is responsible for the design, development, technology maturation and in service support of all diffuser cases, combustors, turbines (vanes, blades, rotors and cases), augmenters (military), nozzles and associated fuel systems for all military, commercial and industrial engine models and radial auxiliary power units.
Technical disciplines in HSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Durability and Product Definition.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
