Position Summary and Qualifications:

The Clinical Practice and Simulation Lab Manager plays a critical role in supporting high-quality, hands-on learning experiences for students within the IPEX Continuum of Care Simulation Suite (C2S2) and surrounding classrooms. This position is responsible for managing the daily operations, maintenance, and optimization of simulation-based education in the School of Health Professions, including the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum. The manager ensures the seamless integration of simulation technology, provides critical classroom and instructional support, and facilitates faculty-led learning experiences. Additionally, this role oversees technical troubleshooting, inventory and facility management, and serves as a key logistical coordinator for assessments, interprofessional workshops, simulation activities, and institutional events such as admissions and recruitment efforts.

This is a 10 month position. Months when the employee is not working will be determined by the School leadership.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the IPEX Continuum of Care Simulation Suite (C2S2) and surrounding classrooms, including facility scheduling, classroom and lab setup, inventory tracking, and resource management.

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot simulation equipment, high-fidelity mannequins, task trainers, and audio/visual recording systems to ensure high-quality learning experience.

  • Support faculty and staff by preparing and maintaining equipment and materials for simulation-based education and healthcare instruction.

  • Ensure the smooth integration of simulation technology into the curriculum by addressing technical issues and minimizing disruptions.

  • Serve as a flow director for complex instructional sessions, including course assessments, interprofessional workshops, and other structured learning experiences.

  • Provide course support and proctoring assistance during assessments.

  • Contribute to admissions and recruitment events by preparing the simulation suite, welcoming and engaging attendees, and maintaining event logistics.

  • Assist with scheduled events in simulation and classroom spaces, including college/department meetings, continuing education, or interprofessional workshops by handling event setup, breakdown, and technical support.

  • Supervise, train, and manage student workers.

  • Provide additional administrative support as needed to facilitate academic and institutional activities. 

Secondary Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the C2S2 and surrounding classrooms.

  • Collaborate with faculty and administrators to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in simulation-based education.

  • Maintain documentation related to simulation activities, including usage reports, maintenance logs, and inventory. 

  • Provide occasional training and guidance to faculty, staff, and students on the effective use of simulation equipment and technology as well as processes.

  • Support grant applications and research initiatives related to simulation-based learning and interprofessional education.

Minimum Qualifications

Required

  • Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining technology systems, including hardware, software, and audiovisual equipment.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced academic environment.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with faculty, staff, and students. 

  • Ability to work independently and problem-solve technical or operational challenges in real-time.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, education, or technology-related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting simulation equipment, task trainers, and AV recording systems.

  • Experience in an academic or healthcare training environment with exposure to simulation-based education.
