Position Summary:
As a Research Scientist Intern at Tokyo Electron, you will have the unique opportunity to join a dynamic and diverse team of engineers dedicated to the development, enhancement, and customization of our products to meet the specific demands of our customers. Whether you thrive in simulation or experimental research, this internship will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the research scientist field.
This opening is for an intern position supporting multiphysics simulations for chemical reactors used for the deposition of semiconductor thin films. Computational simulations are routinely performed to develop and improve TEL’s thin film technology processes and equipment. These simulations require specialized computational resources and employ multiphysics simulations which include mass transport, heat transfer and chemistry. The candidate may also assist with some fundamental scientific research by conducting technical searches in peer review journals.
This internship is payrolled via payroll process provider.
Responsibilities:
The specific responsibilities for this position may vary depending on the role and business unit; however, they could include:
- Collaborating with the team to conduct research simulations using state-of-the-art techniques such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) or Atomistic modeling, among others, based on the requirements of the assigned project
- Set up, run, and analyze computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, using ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL, and other in-house software
- Create new or modify existing program code that couple with simulations
- Research engineering issues and topics in semiconductor manufacturing, chemical vapor deposition (CVD), and CFD simulations.
- Documenting and analyzing simulation or experimental results to draw insightful conclusions and providing valuable recommendations for product enhancements and advancements
- Collaborating with other team members to optimize simulation models or experimental setups, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of the research process
- Actively participating in team meetings, sharing progress updates, insights, and contributing to the overall research strategy
- Staying updated on the latest industry trends, emerging research, and cutting-edge technologies to continuously expand your knowledge and contribute to the team's innovation efforts
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pursuing an advanced degree in Engineering, Computational Chemistry or Science, Physics, or related fields
- Knowledge of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) is highly desirable. Experience or university course(s) taken in molecular dynamics and/or quantum chemistry are a plus.
- Experience with Linux operating systems is required.
- Experience with a programming language such as C/C++, Fortran or Python are desired but not required. Other additional programming languages, scripting, and GUI programming are a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be fluent in English
- Must be able to work in teams as well as individually
- Experience working safely in a laboratory environment with hazardous chemicals
- Ability and desire to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary and diverse team
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S without sponsorship
