The City of Peoria’s Development and Engineering Department/Engineering Services Division has an excellent opportunity for an Engineering Inspector that will serve as a liaison between the contractor, developer, utility company, and other City departments and staff. The position will perform journey level work in the inspection of the development projects, construction of a variety of City infrastructure projects and non-City owned utilities. This is accomplished by inspecting workmanship and materials used in a variety of projects, and ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and departmental regulations.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience performing civil inspections, monitoring construction activities, and performing acceptance testing in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge in the fields of temporary traffic control and storm water pollution construction site inspection, as well as field-testing of soils, concrete, and asphalt pavement materials.
  • Experience in a municipal or government setting.

Please note this is a Fixed-Term (Contract) position that is eligible for benefits.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High school plus additional course work (equivalent to up to 1 year at a Community College or equivalent in accumulation of similar knowledge and abilities)

Experience:

  • 2-4 years’ experience. Considerable previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions

Physical Demands:

  • Work requires heavy physical exertion and effort. Forces exerted are equivalent to lifting between 25 and 50 pounds.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid Arizona Class “D” Driver’s License upon hire.
  • APWA Certified Public Infrastruc
