About the role

Nokia Technologies is seeking a motivated Patent Portfolio Engineering Trainee to join our team. This is a part-time or full-time position, requiring a minimum commitment of 40% per week, with a 12-month fixed-term contract. The starting date is flexible within August 2025, and you will be employed directly by Nokia Technologies.

As a Patent Portfolio Engineering Trainee, you will play a vital role in supporting our patenting team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing assistance in reviewing and prosecuting new inventions and patent applications.
  • Handling general correspondence, preparing, compiling, and tailoring communication to inventors and experts.
  • Facilitating reviews of office actions and allowed patent applications under the guidance of a patent professional.
  • Contributing to portfolio assessment and maintenance, including investigating usage in Nokia and third-party products and standards, classifying the portfolio, and conducting portfolio mining.
  • Actively participating in the improvement and development of our processes and tools.

Ideal candidates will be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Technology Management. A strong understanding of telecommunications, mobile, internet, and software technologies is essential. Experience with radio technology is a plus. We highly value candidates who are open-minded, proactive, and eager to learn.

Desired Skills:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's or advanced Bachelor's program in a relevant field.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proactive and diligent approach to work.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English with exceptional communication skills.
  • Strong initiative, analytical skills, and the ability to develop creative solutions.
  • Previous work experience in the relevant field or in an international setting is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with patent mining in public patent databases.
