Job Summary

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Systems Administrator is responsible for the management/maintenance of our AWS and VMWare server infrastructure. This position will report to and work closely with the Vice President of Infrastructure Operations.

Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure Management:

• Coordinate with Vice President of Infrastructure Operations to design, implement, and manage AWS infrastructure, including compute, storage, and networking resources.
• Deploy and scale applications in a cloud environment.

System Administration:

• Configure and maintain AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, and VPC.
• Perform system upgrades, patches, and regular maintenance.
• Work as part of the Systems’ Admin team in managing VMWare server infrastructure.

Security and Compliance:

• Implement and maintain security measures for AWS resources.
• Monitor and respond to security incidents and vulnerabilities.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Backup and Recovery:

• Recommend and implement backup/recovery strategies for cloud-based systems.
• Test and verify backup processes regularly.

Automation:

• Implement and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like AWS CloudFormation.
• Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency.

Monitoring and Performance Tuning:

• Set up monitoring tools to track system performance and health.
• Identify and address performance bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with team to optimize application performance.

 

 

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Systems Administrator with a focus on AWS.
• AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or similar certific.ations

Preferred Skills

• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Power Shell, Python, Bash) for automation.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

• Weekend and evening work required from time to time.
• Being adaptable to new technologies, staying updated on AWS best practices, and having aproactive approach to system administration are key attributes for success in this role. It's a position that demands a combination of technical expertise, security knowledge, and cloud proficiency.
