Job Overview:

LPL’s Security Architecture & Engineering organization is looking for a talented professional to join a high-performing organization that is charged with supporting LPL's Data Protection program. The AVP of Data Protection will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data security solutions to protect our organization's sensitive information. The ideal candidate will have experience in data security and Data Security Posture Management. The Engineer will work closely with IT staff, and business stakeholders to identify and mitigate potential security risks and implement best practices. Creativity in tracking down possible gaps in data integrity and security for the enterprise would be an asset to the enterprise. This individual will have the opportunity to help shape the future direction of data security at LPL.  We are looking for an experienced professional, who has a breadth of knowledge and skills across various technical and project management acumens, along with an understanding of industry best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing LPL's Data Security Posture Management platform, including engineering, automation, and support.

  • Evaluating Structured data from databases and data warehouses such as Oracle, MS SQL server, Snowflake, Aurora (PostgreSQL), and Unstructured data like S3, Azure blob storage, Windows, and Linux shares (NFS, CIFS) both on-premises and cloud environments like AWS & Azure

  • Dive deep into data activities, access controls, configurations, and audit logs in various cloud databases and unstructured storage platforms and develop a process and solutions to mitigate data risks   

  • Establishing safety protocols to protect all data collected and used by the organization

  • Drafting security plans depending on the organization’s needs and current threats

  • Foster a partnered approach, building and maintaining strong productive working relationships with internal stakeholders aligning service delivery with business needs

  • Analyze data protection risk scenarios within the data persistent and transit layers and develop mitigations to protect sensitive data with a sustainable solution

  • Proven experience in implementing and practicing cloud data security standards, compliance, and risk management strategies

  • Responsible for securing and protecting sensitive data by implementing and maintaining security measures, policies, and procedure

  • Conduct security assessments and risk analyses to identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend remediation plans

  • Discuss complex technical details at a high level with leadership/stakeholders and at a low level with engineers and architects

  • Adhere to data policies & standards, while also enforcing correct management of sensitive data in compliance with global business rules, legal and governmental regulations

  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and reconciliation within reports and dashboards by reviewing, identifying, and resolving gaps and inconsistencies

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in data security, risk management, or a related field

  • 3+ years’ experience with DSPM tools like BigID, Varonis, Collibra, Symmetry

  • 4+ years’ experience with Scripting/Automation tools such as Splunk, Python, and PowerShell

  • 5+ years of experience with database administration with databases like Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Snowflake

  • 4+ years’ experience collaborating with technical team members, business analysts, and project/program managers to ensure a quality solution is delivered

Preferences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
