About the role
Automotive TechnicianTransdev in Newport, Rhode Island, is seeking skilled Automotive Technicians to join our maintenance team. Our technicians are responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of vehicles and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. - Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on vehicles and equipment in accordance with company and manufacturer standards.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with engines, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and other vehicle components.
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify problems and verify repairs.
- Complete repair orders and documentation accurately within maintenance systems.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Follow all safety protocols, company policies, and DOT regulations.
- Assist and collaborate with other technicians to complete repairs efficiently.
- Provide mentorship or guidance to less experienced team members, as applicable.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- Some experience in automotive, diesel, or fleet maintenance required (experience level flexible based on position).
- ASE certifications preferred (or willingness to obtain through company-supported program).
- Must possess a valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or ability to obtain.
- Must provide a set of basic mechanic tools.
- Ability to work shifts or flexible schedules as needed.
- Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
- Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions-100% of the job is performed outside, work alone and in remote locations.
- Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
- Push and pull objects up to 100 pounds, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level
- Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job; tolerate exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
- Be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (if based in the U.S.).
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.
